Joint Book Sharing Forum on Hong Kong Corrections by SS and CSD

The Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SS) collaborated with the Correctional Services Department (CSD) to organize a Book Sharing Forum on 30 May 2023. The event attracted more than 250 scholars, students and professionals working in the criminal justice system.

Officiated by Professor Freddy Boey Yin Chiang, President of CityU, and Mr Wong Kwok-hing, Commissioner of Correctional Services, the forum featured the recent publication of CSD, Gripping Insights: Recent Psychological Research on Hong Kong Corrections. The book is the combined effort of 11 clinical psychologists with their professional knowledge and experience.

During the dialogue session, Prof. Samuel Ho, Head of SS, Dr. Judy Hui and Dr. Vivian Mak, senior clinical psychologists of CSD, and student representatives from CityU, HKU and CUHK, explored different aspects of recent psychological research on local correctional services. In the open forum that follows, representatives from CSD and about 20 NGOs shared their perspectives on Hong Kong corrections.
