Crime Science Research Group

Criminology research group aligns with the University’s strategic research themes of Digital Society and Smart City. It advances our strategy of developing a unique and distinctive profile, being the only crime science research group in the region. This cluster enables our faculty members to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects with colleagues within CityUHK and dovetails with core crime science organizations and higher education courses in other regions (e.g., London, Leeds and Portsmouth, UK; Waikato, NZ; Philadelphia and Cincinnati, USA). The cluster conducts targeted studies to develop practical solutions for reducing crime and enhancing security in the region, with a focus on contemporary threats such as cybercrime, fraud, and money laundering. The research assists criminal justice agencies, regulators, and businesses in responding to these modern forms of crime.
