The Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at City University of Hong Kong successfully hosted the International Symposium on Digital Fraud Prevention and Detection on 18 September 2025. The symposium convened close to 100 distinguished guests, including leading cybersecurity experts, financial analysts, law enforcement representatives, and academic researchers, to examine pressing challenges posed by digital fraud in today’s interconnected world.

The exceptionally high level of interest underscored the urgency and relevance of the topic. In response to the strong demand, the Department arranged an additional live online broadcast and expanded the event space, allowing approximately 90 students to participate alongside external stakeholders. This impressive turnout highlighted the academic and practical significance of promoting cross-sector collaboration in the fight against digital fraud.

Held in a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere, the symposium featured a series of insightful keynote speeches, panel discussions, and case study presentations. Topics ranged from emerging fraud trends and AI-driven detection technologies to cross-border collaboration and regulatory frameworks. Attendees had the opportunity to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions aimed at strengthening digital trust and resilience.
