Mental health issues in Hong Kong have become a pressing societal concern. Rising levels of stress and anxiety across most demographics have led to alarming outcomes such as suicide among the youth and the older adults, as well as widespread emotional strain on caregivers and professionals. To address these pressing issues, the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at CityUHK has introduced the "Clinical Mental Health Practice" Stream in the Master of Arts in Applied Social Sciences (MAASS) programme, starting from September 2025. This stream is designed to provide social work practitioners, helping professionals, and staff with advanced-level training in clinical mental health practice, equipping them to better support individuals and communities in navigating mental health challenges in Hong Kong.
